Why we started BlackCarService.NYC
BlackCarService.NYC was founded in 2018 by Anthony Marino, an 11-year veteran of Carey International and Empire CLS, after a decade watching NYC's luxury car market splinter into two unsatisfying tiers. On one side, Uber Black turned into a surge-pricing roulette wheel — a JFK to Midtown ride that costs $85 at 2 PM regularly hits $255 by 5 PM. On the other side, legacy operators like Carey and Empire CLS still ran on 1990s phone-and-fax dispatch with quoted rates 40% higher than the actual market would bear. Marino's thesis was simple: a TLC-licensed, flat-rate black car service with modern dispatch software, FAA flight tracking, and a 30-vehicle fleet of late-model Mercedes-Benz and Cadillac inventory could undercut Carey on price while crushing Uber Black on reliability. The first 18 months were a Greenwich-to-Midtown commuter book and a handful of Goldman Sachs partners. By 2024 the company was running 38,000+ trips a year. The flat-rate JFK number — $95 — has not moved since 2018.
Six things you get here that you don't get on Uber Black
Each is a hard operational difference, not a marketing claim.
No surge pricing — ever
Our flat rates do not move during rush hour, snowstorms, UN General Assembly week, or New Year's Eve. The quote you get at booking is the price you pay. Uber Black runs 2.5–4× during the same windows.
TLC-licensed chauffeurs only
Every driver carries a current NYC Taxi & Limousine Commission license, passes annual drug tests, clears 7-year background checks, and completes defensive-driving recertification. We turn down 9 of every 10 applicants.
Live FAA flight tracking
For airport pickups at JFK, LGA, EWR, TEB, and HPN, we pull arrival data directly from the FAA feed. Delays and early arrivals re-time your pickup automatically — no calls, no rebooking fees, no surprises.
Centralized corporate billing
Monthly invoices, employee profiles, GL coding, and expense-export integration with Concur, Expensify, and Ramp. Goldman Sachs partners book a Greenwich → Midtown run the same way our family clients book the Hamptons.
NDA-compliant, discreet service
Every chauffeur signs a confidentiality agreement on day one. We move M&A deal teams, talent, and family-office principals; what happens in the vehicle does not leave the vehicle.
$5M commercial liability
Every vehicle carries $5M combined-single-limit coverage — five times the NY State minimum for for-hire vehicles. We re-up annually with a primary carrier audited by the TLC.
How BlackCarService.NYC vets and trains chauffeurs
Every BlackCarService.NYC chauffeur holds a current NYC Taxi & Limousine Commission (TLC) license — the regulatory standard for any for-hire vehicle operating in New York City. The TLC license requires a 7-year criminal background check, an annual drug test, fingerprinting through the NY State Division of Criminal Justice Services, a defensive-driving certificate, and biennial re-licensure. We add a second layer on top: each driver applicant completes a 40-hour internal training program covering NYC navigation (named highways: Van Wyck, BQE, FDR, Lincoln Tunnel, Holland Tunnel), hospitality protocol, executive-protection basics, vehicle handling for the Cadillac Escalade ESV and Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, and our dispatch and flight-tracking software. We turn down 9 of every 10 applicants. The current roster of 45+ chauffeurs averages 4.2 years of tenure with the company; the longest-serving driver started in 2018 and has logged over 6,400 trips. Every chauffeur signs a confidentiality agreement on day one — non-negotiable for our investment-bank, Big Law, and family-office accounts.
The team running BlackCarService.NYC
Anthony Marino
Founder & CEO
Anthony spent 11 years at Carey International and Empire CLS as senior dispatcher and operations lead before founding BlackCarService.NYC in 2018. He runs the operation from the 1420 6th Ave office and still personally vets every chauffeur applicant.
Lena Petrova
Director of Operations
Lena ran ground transportation for a Fortune 50 financial-services firm out of 200 West St for nine years before joining in 2020. She owns corporate accounts, billing, and the SLA for our investment-bank and Big Law clients.
Marcus Whitfield
Chief Chauffeur / Driver Trainer
Marcus drove for Drive On Madison for eight years and trained their senior chauffeurs. He runs our 40-hour onboarding program — defensive driving, hospitality, NYC navigation, and executive protection basics.
Year-round corporate accounts and named clients
BlackCarService.NYC runs year-round corporate accounts for NYC-based investment banks, asset managers, Big Law firms, and Fortune 500 HQs. Common pickup points: Goldman Sachs at 200 West St, JPMorgan Chase at 270 Park Ave, Morgan Stanley at 1585 Broadway, BlackRock at 50 Hudson Yards, Blackstone at 345 Park Ave, Sullivan & Cromwell at 125 Broad St, Skadden at 1 Manhattan West, Cravath at 825 Eighth Ave. Common destinations: JFK Terminal 4 (Delta hub), LGA Terminal C (Delta), EWR Terminal C (United), Teterboro FBOs (Sheltair, Meridian, Signature), Greenwich CT residential, and Hamptons summer rentals. The corporate book averages 14,000 trips a year — roughly 37% of total volume — with monthly invoicing, employee booking profiles, custom GL codes, and expense-platform exports for Concur, Expensify, and Ramp. Onboarding takes about 24 hours: one call to (646) 798-6550 sets up the account, payment terms (net-30 standard, net-15 with discount), and authorized riders. Volume discounts apply at 50+ trips per month.

What long-term clients say
"I've had a corporate account with BlackCarService.NYC since 2020 — Greenwich → 200 West St three days a week, plus international flights from JFK Terminal 4. The same two chauffeurs handle 90% of my trips. They know I want the FDR not the BQE on a Tuesday morning. The flat rate from Greenwich is $245 sedan, $285 SUV; surged Uber Black on a snow day quoted me $620 once. Easy choice."
"Set up our family office account in 2022 after Empire CLS dropped the ball on a Hamptons → JFK Terminal 1 international run. BlackCarService.NYC handled the same itinerary the next month flawlessly — Mercedes S-Class, on time, driver waited 90 minutes when our flight from Milan was delayed. The fact that the founder still answers his cell at 11 PM tells you everything about how they operate."

A few things our long-term clients have figured out
The clients who get the most out of BlackCarService.NYC tend to learn a few patterns that we don't advertise. First, the SUV is almost always the right call for two adults plus luggage — the $30 difference between the $95 sedan and $125 SUV at JFK pays for itself in trunk space and rear-seat comfort, especially on the 75–90-minute Van Wyck Expressway run during 4–7 PM rush. Second, if you're flying out of Newark Liberty (EWR) from Manhattan during weekday rush, the Holland Tunnel beats the Lincoln Tunnel before 4:30 PM and loses to it after — our drivers route accordingly. Third, the corporate-account book gets a 7–12% discount versus retail rates at 50+ trips per month, and most of our highest-volume corporate clients started with a single-trip booking before scaling up. Fourth, for flights into JFK Terminal 1 (Air France, Lufthansa, Korean Air), the 60-minute international wait window is generous; we built it around an actual median customs hold of 38 minutes during peak hours, so plan to text your driver from baggage claim. Fifth, Sprinter Van bookings should go in 48 hours ahead minimum; the fleet is six Sprinters and they fill on summer Friday afternoons for Hamptons runs. Sixth, NYE pickups need to be on the calendar by mid-December — Times Square frozen zone goes up at 10 AM on December 31, and any pickup south of 59th St on the West Side requires a planned route by the dispatch team that morning.
